The Root Quilt series draws inspiration from the intricate formations of coral reefs and the diverse marine life that inhabits them.
Woven by Nature
Root is cultivated on intricately carved, natural beeswax templates, allowing it to assume the shape of the templates as it grows. The fibres intertwine with each other, creating a naturally woven, robust, textile and demonstrating how new materials can be designed using natural processes and living organisms. This piece can be suspended from the ceiling with monofilament to fasten invisibly from above, allowing it to ‘float’ as if underwater. Hooks and filament are supplied.
