The Medusa Series is a collection of intricate root tapestries that symbolize the Scyphozoa, commonly known as jellyfish. These fascinating creatures are some of the oldest living animals on our planet, and their populations are booming in response to the rising temperatures caused by climate change. They are beautiful harbingers that remind us of the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world.
Woven by Nature
Root is cultivated on intricately carved, natural beeswax templates, allowing it to assume the shape of the templates as it grows. The fibres intertwine with each other, creating a naturally woven, robust, tapestry. The innovation demonstrates how new materials can be bio-designed with living organisms.
This piece can be suspended from the ceiling with monofilament to fasten invisibly from above, allowing it to ‘float’ as if underwater. Hooks and filament are supplied.

Care
Root textile is a natural fibre and, like a straw hat or a linen cloth, will last for many years if kept from the elements.
Any settled dust can be removed using a vacuum on a low suction setting or dusted with a soft brush.
