This lamp was inspired by the shapes of sea sponges that silently work to sustain life in the ocean.

Roots are the building blocks for plant life. Similarly, corals are the roots of the ocean and support 25% of all marine species. Zena Holloway crafts pieces to resemble the textures and patterns found in coral and other marine life. Entirely compostable, the material serves as both reality and metaphor to highlight the delicate balance within our planet's fragile ecosystem

As the root grows, it buries down onto beeswax templates to take the form of the final piece. From seed to harvest, it takes two weeks for the root to form a resilient textile. This is bio-design in its simplest form, harnessing natural processes to grow a new generation of responsible materials for a circular economy.

2-core, black cable, with black on/off switch & 3-pin plug (alternative jute-coloured cable available on request)
E14 screw fitting, supplied with Osram warm white LED bulb (2700k), 7W (equivalent to 60W halogen), dimmable with a 15,000-hour life span (almost 2 years of continuous light) 3-year guarantee, LEDVANCE energy rating E
Keep the root shade at least 3cm away from a bare bulb.
Not suitable for incandescent, compact fluorescent or halogen lightbulbs. Do not exceed 5 watts
Not suitable for use in damp conditions.
Do not cover. IP20
