Inspired by the patterns of Astrea corals, each root circle is unique.

Roots are grown on beeswax templates, enabling a rapid 12-day growth cycle. This process leverages the natural binding properties of roots to self-weave fabric that is biodegradable, pollution-free, water-efficient and estimated carbon negative. The production is a closed-loop system, recycling water from runoff and any leftover grass or seed becomes fodder for livestock. This particular pattern has been instrumental in a number of Rootfull’s projects, such as the red madder sculpture for Messums and the Astrea Root dress.
