The Medusa series is a collection of intricate root tapestries that symbolise the Scyphozoa, commonly known as jellyfish, which are amongst the oldest living animals on our planet.

Woven by Nature
Root is cultivated on intricately carved, natural beeswax templates, allowing it to assume the shape of the templates as it grows. The fibres intertwine with each other, creating a naturally woven, robust, tapestry. The innovation demonstrates how new materials can be designed using natural methods and living organisms.

This piece can be suspended from the ceiling with monofilament to fasten invisibly from above, allowing it to ‘float’ as if underwater. Hooks and filament are supplied.

Care
Root textile is a natural fibre and, like a straw hat or a linen cloth, will last for many years if kept from the elements.
Any settled dust can be removed using a vacuum on a low suction setting or dusted with a soft brush.
