OCEANS RISING: Space House, Covent Garden
The exhibition at Space House will present the work of three artists who are producing work with a post-hydrocarbon mindset – Zena Holloway, Julia Lohmann and Tessa Campbell- Fraser. It will be on display during London Design Festival and will coincide with the launch of Material Matters London, the art fair dedicated to material intelligence in architecture and design, which this year will take place at Space House from 17-20 September.
Rootfull at First Light Festival
Rooted: Material Ecologies is the result of an open call to artists, sponsored by the Messums Creative Foundation. The brief was to propose a large, site-specific, ephemeral sculpture created using non-hydrocarbon-based materials, challenging artists to think differently about the use of materials in their individual practices, and encouraging the viewer to consider the beauty and value in ephemeral art.
PURIFIED x ROOTFULL
Rootfull partnered with PURIFIED to grow shoe soles that are designed to "return to the earth" after their final wear. The collaboration aimed to re-interpret post-consumer waste (such as latex outsoles) into a growth mechanism that actively fuels future textile growth, thus closing the loop on natural circularity.
